Our 5 Favourite Photography Galleries in Amsterdam
Amsterdam has a vibrant photographic art scene. There are many small, independent galleries aside from the city’s large cultural institutions like Foam or Huis Marseille. Since we’re from Amsterdam and have a small thing for photography ;-) let's take a look at what we think are the greatest photography galleries in town!
1. Kahman Gallery Amsterdam
Located in the beautiful centre of Amsterdam (the Jordaan) Kahmann Gallery embodies all that is photography. While the original concept was to focus purely on Dutch photographers, the scope has broadened over time to include equal volumes of work from international photographers. Kahmann Gallery presents a beautiful mix between vintage and contemporary photoworks. Besides a large vintage print collection (1930 – 1970) they represent the work of almost 30 national and international photographers.

2. The Ravestijn Gallery
The Ravestijn Gallery was founded in Amsterdam in 2012 by Jasper Bode and Narda Van ‘t Veer with a focus on inquisitive and provocative approaches to contemporary photography. Bode and Van ‘t Veer respectively bring together several decades of experience curating photography exhibitions and representing a diverse group of photographic talents in the Netherlands and abroad. The gallery showcases several exhibitions a year, aimed at exploring new perspectives for photography in all its forms and showing ambitious international works.

3. Flatland Gallery

4. Annet Gelink Gallery
Annet Gelink Gallery is one of the leading Contemporary Art-galleries in the Netherlands. It is situated in the center of Amsterdam. Since its foundation in 2000, the gallery has been exhibiting work of groundbreaking artists, ranging from drawing, painting and photography to installation and video art. The primary aim of the gallery is to show new tendencies and individuals, focusing on both Dutch and international art.

5. Gallery Wouter van Leeuwen
Galerie Wouter van Leeuwen, founded in 2001, works with young and established international photographers. Within the contemporary field, the gallery explores the interface between autonomous and documentary photography and focuses on works rooted in the traditional genres of landscape and portraiture.
